Trip in Central Tibet
Day 1: Fly from China to Lhasa in the morning, land at Gongkar airport where you will be recieved by our english speaking guide. Your Tibetan driver will then drive you to the old city of Lhasa. Check in either Yak or Thangka hotel. You will then rest well to acclimatise to the high altitude. At noon you can take walk around town and have a light lunch at Lhasa Kitchen which is located near your hotel.
Day 2: In the morning, drive to Drepung and Sera monastery, these are the biggest monasteries in Lhasa which belongs to Gelukpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
Day 3: In the morning, we will visit the Potala Palace, which is the Winter residence of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. In the afternoon, we will visit the Jokang Temple. This is one of the oldest and holiest temples in Tibet built in 7th century by the 33rd King of Tibet.
Day 4: In the morning, we drive to Samye monastery. This monastery is the oldest in Tibet built under the guidence of Guru Padmasambava (One Indian Master) in 8th century and in which he found Nyingma Pa Sect. After sight-seeing to Samye, we then drive to the town of Tsedang town and check in the Yulong hotel.
Day 5: In the morning, drive to Gyangtse via Yamdok-Tso lake, Gyangtse Kubum Chorten monastery and check in the Yati hotel.
Day 6: In the morning, drive to Shigatse on the way to visit Shalu and the Tashi Lhunpo monastery and free market in Shigatse. Stay at Tashi Choeder hotel or Hotel Manasarovar.
Day 7: In the morning, visit free market and then drive back to Lhasa.
Day 8: In the morning, drive to the Lhasa train station and catch a train to China.
